Life is happening now.
Past upsets are stories you keep telling yourself about how you wish things could have been.
And I’m not saying you shouldn’t tell yourself those stories; but see them for what they are.
What do you really want?
You have values; now let your values have you.
No, you won’t be able to live perfectly, just as you can’t will away your upset stories.
But you already know the next steps you need to take from exactly where you are.
are just best guesses about what the culmination of all your values should look like. But that culmination can’t be fully predicted—you only see so much of the good that wants to use your life to exist, and how.
So treat plans for your future a little like those stories from your past: as ongoing conversations with yourself in your mind.
Let go by not letting go.
